The Optiparts Optimist Daggerboard Bungee Handle is a simple but essential piece of kit for any Optimist sailor. Designed specifically for the Optimist class, it securely retains the daggerboard in its case while underway, preventing it from floating up and out at inconvenient moments on the water.

Beyond keeping the daggerboard in place, the bungee also serves the second practical purpose of holding the hiking strap in an upright position so sailors can easily hook their feet under it when needed.

Class legal for Optimist racing, it's a straightforward, reliable upgrade or replacement for any competitive or recreational Optimist.

Installation

  1. Pass the shockcord through the thicker blue tubing and then the thinner blue tubing.
  2. Pass the end of shockcord that is coming out of the thinner blue tubing back through the thicker blue tubing to create the handle.
  3. Add a bowline knot to both ends of the black and yellow vectra line, creating two small loops.
  4. Pass the shockcord through one loop in the vectra line.
  5. Pass the same end of the shockcord through the eyelet on the front end of the daggerboard case.
  6. Tie that same end of the shockcord to one hiking strap.
  7. Pull the vectra line through the space between the daggerboard case and the midship frame.
  8. Pass the other end of the shockcord through the other loop in the black line and pass the shockcord for the second time through the eyelet on the front end of the daggerboard case.
  9. Tie the second end of the shock cord to the hiking strap.

The Sydney-to-Perth rail link is currently closed due to heavy rain and flooding. The Melbourne-to-Adelaide rail link is also closed due to damage caused by a train derailment.

This situation is causing extended delays of deliveries to Western Australia for the following shipping services:

If you need an order in Western Australia urgently, consider using  the "Australia Post eParcel - Express" service if it is available for your order. Alternatively contact our WA MAIL ORDER DEPARTMENT to discuss options based on stock already available in WA.
