DEKS OLJE® D.1 is an oil, which saturates the wood, literally feeding it with oil to replace those lost. Driving out moisture and air, filling the woods pores with oil, it enriches and stabilises to provide long lasting protection to interior and exterior timber.

A non-film forming, clear oil DEKS OLJE® D.1 enhances the natural beauty of the wood while being easy to maintain, requiring no sanding or stripping

Whether you're treating teak decking, mahogany topsides, ipe garden furniture or hardwood terraces, D.1 enhances the natural beauty of the timber while building resistance against UV exposure, moisture and the general weathering of the outdoor environment.

The non-film-forming formula penetrates deeply into the substrate, nourishing the wood from within and leaving a rich, oiled finish rather than a surface coating that can peel, crack or trap moisture over time.

Easy to apply by brush or roller with a 24-48 hour drying time, D.1 is equally suited to boat decks and topsides, garden furniture, decking and gates — and can even be used below the waterline as an insulating base coat before conventional underwater treatment. Deks Solje D.1's oiled appearance will gradually disappear in the weeks following application depending on exposure to sunlight.

The deck oil dries to a matt finish, making it the better option for areas of high foot traffic.

Deks Solje D.2 is ideal for application to surfaces in need of long-lasting protection against UV rays and blistering.

The varnish can make a surface slippery and is not ideal for high traffic areas that are likely to become wet.

RECOMMENDATIONS  BEFORE  APPLICATION

  • The wood must be clean, dry, healthy, and prepared - free from dust, mold, grease stains, and any old coating. A good rule of thumb is 3 days of dry weather with maximum wood humidity of 18%.
  • If the wood has significant surface glazing (which hinders product penetration), provide prior preparation of the substrate.

NEW  WOOD

  • Leave the wood exposed to the elements for 6 months, then clean with Net-Trol is necessary, or degrease wood with Oil Cleaner, then neutralise with Deck Cleaner.
    Depending on the surface:
  • Leave the wood exposed to the elements for 6 months then clean with NET-TROL®* if necessary
    or Degrease the wood with OIL CLEANER®* then neutralize with DECK CLEANER®*.

OLD,  STAINED  OR  BLACKENED  WOOD

  • Clean the substrate with Deck Cleaner.
  • Sand the Wood if necessary.

PREVIOUSLY  TREATED  (OILED)  GREY  WOOD

  • Remove the oil with Oil Cleaner & Deck Cleaner.
  • Sand the wood if necessary (grain 100).

FORMERLY  VARNISHED  OR  VARNISHED  WOOD

  • Striip the wood with Marine Strip & Deck Cleaner.
  • Sand the wood if necessary.

 

APPLICATION

  • DO NOT DILUTE.
  • Apply a coat of Deks Olje D.1.
  • Allow the product to penetrate for 15 - 30 minutes.
  • Repeatedly apply coats of D.1 until saturation - when the wood refuses to absorb any more product.
  • Do not let dry between coats - apply "wet on wet".
  • Once the wood is well saturated, brush or wipe off excess product to avoid shine upon drying.
  • When the wood takes on a light grey hue, proceed to maintenance.
