DEKS OLJE® D.2 is a varnish like, tough, flexible and durable finish that enhances the natural beauty of the wood.

Easy to maintain and apply the more coats of DEKS OLJE® D.2 applied the higher the gloss finish.

Unlike traditional varnishes DEKS OLJE® D.2 will not craze or blister and because of DEKS OLJE® D.1*’s penetrating qualities will not peel or flake as water is unable to get into the wood.

Owatrol Deks Olje D.2 is a premium gloss varnish designed to follow on from Deks Olje D.1, providing a long-lasting, high-gloss protective topcoat that enhances the natural beauty of exotic hardwoods while delivering serious resistance against UV rays, blistering and the weathering demands of the marine and outdoor environment.

Where D.1 penetrates and nourishes the wood from within, D.2 builds a resilient yet flexible film on the surface that moves with the timber rather than cracking or delaminating over time — a critical quality for wooden surfaces on boats and outdoor furniture that are subject to constant expansion and contraction. The very fluid formula penetrates without masking the natural grain, delivering a rich, deep gloss finish that showcases the timber rather than obscuring it.

Specifically designed for use above the waterline on boats as well as exterior garden furniture, gates and hardwood surfaces, D.2 is easy to apply by brush or roller with no sanding required between coats — except before the final coat — making it a practical choice for both new timber and maintenance of existing surfaces. Applied after Deks Olje D.1 or D.1 PRO for best results.

Deks Solje D.1's oiled appearance will gradually disappear in the weeks following application depending on exposure to sunlight.

The deck oil dries to a matt finish, making it the better option for areas of high foot traffic.

Deks Solje D.2 is ideal for application to surfaces in need of long-lasting protection against UV rays and blistering.

The varnish can make a surface slippery and is not ideal for high traffic areas that are likely to become wet.

RECOMMENDATIONS  BEFORE  APPLICATION

  • DO NOT DILUTE.
  • The wood must be previously treated with Deks Olje D.1, or Rustol Owatrol for specific applications.
  • The wood must be clean and completely dry before application.
  • Do not apply in humid weather or late in the afternoon.

 

APPLICATION

  • Apply 3 - 6 coats of Deks Olje D.2 depending on the exposure of the substrate.
  • Allow a minimum of 12 hours drying time between each coat.
  • It is not necessary to sand between coats.
  • Allow 3 - 4 days of drying before putting into service.
  • Splashes or drips of Deks Olje D.2 must be removed before the product dries - after drying, stains are very difficult to remove so it is important to be very attentive and quick to remove immediately after application.
